Hi @stef541,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Officejet 6812 e-All-in-One Printer is printing blank pages and not printing black ink, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
1. Check Ink Levels
- Ensure that the black ink cartridge has sufficient ink. If it's low or empty, replace it with a new cartridge.
2. Clean the Printhead
- Sometimes, the printhead can become clogged, leading to issues with ink flow.
- You can clean the printhead using the printer's built-in cleaning function:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Setup menu.
- Select Tools.
- Choose Clean Printhead.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the cleaning process.
- You might need to run this cleaning process 2-3 times to see improvement.
3. Manually Clean the Printhead
- If the automatic cleaning doesn't help, you can manually clean the printhead:
- Turn off the printer and disconnect it from the power source.
- Open the printer to access the ink cartridges.
- Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the printhead contacts using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
- Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
- Reconnect the printer and turn it on, then try printing a test page.
4. Check for Clogged Vents on the Cartridge
- Ensure the ink cartridge vents are not clogged:
- Remove the black ink cartridge.
- Inspect the small vent on the top of the cartridge.
- If the vent is clogged, gently clean it using a pin or paper clip.
- Reinsert the cartridge and try printing again.
5. Align the Printer
- Sometimes misalignment can cause print issues:
- On the printer’s control panel, go to the Setup menu.
- Select Tools.
- Choose Align Printer.
- Follow the instructions to complete the alignment.
6. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer’s control panel or by visiting HP's official website.
7. Replace the Printhead (if necessary)
- If none of the above steps work, the printhead might be faulty and may need to be replaced.
8. Reset the Printer
- Sometimes a reset can clear any error states:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and the printer.
- Turn on the printer and try printing again.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
