Hi @OneCity
If you're noticing little gray blocks around some of your printed lines on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479fdw, despite a good calibration page and satisfactory cartridge status, here are some steps you can take to address the issue:
Step 1: Check the Print Settings
- Verify Print Quality Settings:
- In your print dialog, make sure that the print quality is set to a high or "Best" setting to ensure optimal output quality.
- Confirm that the paper type setting matches the paper you are using.
Step 2: Inspect the Imaging Drum and Toner Cartridges
-
Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:
- Carefully remove each toner cartridge from the printer.
- Inspect the cartridges for any damage or spilled toner.
- Shake them gently side to side to redistribute the toner, then reinstall them.
-
Inspect the Imaging Drum:
- Check the imaging drum for any scratches or damage. If it is coated with toner, gently clean it with a lint-free cloth.
Step 3: Perform a Printer Cleaning
-
Run Cleaning Cycle:
- Access the printer's menu via the control panel and look for the maintenance or cleaning option to run a cleaning cycle, which might help eliminate unwanted marks.
-
Check the Transfer Roller:
- If accessible, ensure the transfer roller is free from debris and toner dust that could cause gray artifacts.
Step 4: Update Printer Firmware
- Check for Updates:
- Go to the HP website and ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Newer firmware can address print quality issues.
Step 5: Adjusting Graphic Settings
- Experiment with Color Settings:
- In the printer properties, try adjusting the graphic settings. You may switch to grayscale mode just to observe any changes in the artifact pattern.
Step 6: Conduct a Full Printer Calibration
- Re-run Calibration:
- Through the printer's settings menu, select calibration and run a full printer calibration. This helps align all colors and may impact the appearance of gray blocks.
