Hi @VOLTRON4440,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e is functioning correctly (since the print quality sheet prints in color), but something is preventing color printing from your ThinkPad. Here are some steps to fix this issue.

Check Printer Settings in Windows

  1. Go to Printers & Scanners:
    • Press Win + R, type control printers, and hit Enter.
    • Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e and select Printing Preferences.
  2. Ensure Color Printing is Enabled:
    • Look for an option like Color / Grayscale or Print in Grayscale.
    • If "Grayscale" is selected, change it to Color.
    • Click Apply > OK.

Check App-Specific Print Settings

  • If you’re printing from apps like Word, Chrome, or Adobe, check the print dialog settings.
  • Make sure Color is selected instead of Black & White.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  1. Uninstall Existing Driver:
    • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
    • Expand Print Queues or Printers, find your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e, right-click it, and select Uninstall device.
  2. Reinstall Driver:
    • Download and install the latest driver from HP's website.

Check HP Smart App (If Installed)

  • Open HP Smart, go to Printer Settings, and ensure color printing is enabled.

Try a Different Application or PC

  • Test printing in color from another app or another computer.
  • If another PC prints in color, the issue is with your ThinkPad's software settings.

Reset the Printer

  1. Unplug the printer while it’s on.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug it back in and turn it on.

After these steps, try printing a color document.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Well my printer does print in color and I already figured it out some reason when I added it the first time it got locked to black and white after deleting it then re adding it it fixed the issue it’s weird, and I think that’s a windows problem

plus I was able to print in color from my custom pc that uses a MSI motherboard so its not a issue with the printer itself its just windows glitches
