HP ENVY 5665 e-All-in-One Printer

Printer prints fine when aligning and cleaning heads and cartridges, ink is full and flowing fine.

When I send a document I get blank pages.

I don't see the newer MAC operating systems in the dropdown list here, can I assume HP no longer supports MAC?

Hi @whycantigetjust

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.It sounds like you're dealing with a situation where your printer works fine during cleaning or alignment, but when you try to print a document, it just spits out blank pages. There could be a few causes for this, and I'll walk you through some troubleshooting steps. I’ll also address your concern about Mac support.

Printer Prints Blank Pages – Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Ensure that you are not accidentally set to print in "Black & White" or "Grayscale" (if you want color prints). Sometimes these settings can cause the printer to not use color ink even if it’s available.
  • Double-check your document’s settings to make sure you are selecting the correct printer and print options. On macOS, go to the "Print" dialog and click "Show Details" to make sure everything looks correct.
  • Make sure that the paper type or size in the printer settings matches the paper you are using.
  • If the paper size selected in your print settings does not match the paper in the printer, it could result in blank pages.

Update Printer Driver (For Mac Users):

  • If the printer driver is out of date or incompatible, it may cause blank pages to print. Make sure you're using the correct and latest driver for your printer model:
    • Go to the HP support website and download the latest driver for your printer model, specifically for your macOS version.
    • If you have HP Smart installed, try updating it or reinstalling the software.

Check Ink Cartridges and Print Heads:

  • Even though you mentioned the cartridges and ink are full and flowing, check the print head nozzles again. Sometimes, they may look fine after cleaning but still have residual blockages. You can try running another cleaning cycle or even a deep cleaning if your printer offers that option.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

  • If you have access to a Windows computer, download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor. It can automatically detect and resolve issues that might be causing blank pages.

Try a Different Document/File:

  • Test printing from a different application (such as printing a PDF or a simple text document). If this works and other documents don’t, there may be an issue with the software or file format you are trying to print.

Reset Printer to Default Settings:

  • You could try resetting the printer to its default factory settings. This often clears any software-related errors or settings that may be causing the issue. Refer to your printer’s user manual for how to reset it.

Does HP Still Support Mac?

Yes, HP does support MacOS for their printers, though the specifics depend on the model and the version of macOS you are using. HP typically releases updated drivers and software for new macOS versions, but sometimes the latest versions of macOS might take a bit longer to be fully compatible with some older printers or drivers.

What to Do if HP Does Not Appear in Your Mac’s Printer List:

If you're not seeing your printer listed in macOS (especially if it's a newer version), here are a couple of things to try:

Install or Update HP Smart:

  • The HP Smart app is the most recent software solution that should work on recent versions of macOS. It helps with setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Download HP Smart from the Mac App Store.

Use AirPrint:

  • Most modern HP printers (including many models from recent years) support AirPrint, Apple's built-in wireless printing feature. If your printer and Mac are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, you can print directly from your Mac to the printer using AirPrint, even without a specific driver installed.
  • To do this, simply go to Print > Select Printer and choose your printer if it supports AirPrint.

Download HP Driver from Website:

  • If the Mac app is not showing your printer, manually download the appropriate driver from the HP support site. Ensure that it is compatible with the version of macOS you are usi

I hope this helps.
