I have a new HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201 printer and am trying to print a file created in InDesign. The printer prints a blank page. I printed the same file to a pdf, which printed as expected. But when I try to send the pdf to the HP, it just spits out a blank page.
The printer prints the test page fine.
This is a relatively simple two-sided file, but could this be a memory issue? I got it to print the page once, but 4 times out of 5 it gives up and prints out a blank page.

Hi @rossish
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Your HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201 is printing blank pages from InDesign and PDF likely due to a driver or rendering conflict—not a memory issue.
Let’s walk through steps to restore consistent output.
Step-by-step recovery for blank page printing from InDesign and PDF
1. Print using a different driver (PCL6 or PostScript)
- Visit the HP Color LaserJet Pro 3201 driver page
- Download and install the HP Universal Print Driver (PCL6) or PostScript driver
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners
- Remove the current printer
- Re-add it using the newly installed driver
- Try printing the PDF again
2. Flatten the PDF before printing
- Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat
- Go to Print > Advanced > Print as Image
- This forces the printer to process the file as a raster image, bypassing vector rendering issues
- Print and check if the output is correct
3. Test with alternate apps and formats
- Open the PDF in Microsoft Edge, Preview, or Foxit Reader
- Print from these apps to see if the issue persists
- If successful, the problem may be isolated to Adobe’s rendering pipeline
4. Update printer firmware
- Return to the HP driver page
- Download and install the latest firmware update utility
- Connect the printer via USB if needed
- Run the updater and restart the printer
5. Disable double-sided printing temporarily
- In the print dialog, uncheck Print on both sides
- Print single-sided to test if duplexing is contributing to the issue
Let me know how the printer responds after these steps. If blank pages persist, we can explore deeper driver configurations or alternate export formats. You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further.
