Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to use the 'setup" cartridges in order to get my new Deskjet to install.  But I declined Instant Ink, I just don't print that much.  So I've now switched the setups for regular cartridges.  My question is, can I just recycle these setup cartridges?  I'm assuming I can't use them if I'm not using Instant Ink.  The whole Instant Ink thing is a little confusing.  Thanks!

Hi @herbsgirl ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Yes, you can recycle the setup cartridges if you've switched to regular cartridges and are not using Instant Ink. The setup cartridges are primarily used for the initial printer setup and alignment. They are not tied to Instant Ink, so you can recycle them without any issues.

Instant Ink is a separate subscription service that automatically sends you new ink cartridges when your printer is running low, based on the number of pages you print. Since you've declined Instant Ink and switched to regular cartridges, you won't be using the setup cartridges in the future. Feel free to recycle them in accordance with your local recycling guidelines.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Sorry I didn't reply... you were in my spam folder. 🤦‍♀️  I'll recycle these back to HP along with a few old cartridges that I have.
Thanks for your help!
