I have a HP Tango X which was originally purchased in the Hong Kong and I was moved to Canada Settle down.

The HP website told me that HP 804XL & HP 64XL cartridge would work on the printer. When i install it it tells me it's the wrong cartridge.

How do i change the region code of the printer to accept the local cartridge?

Thanks.

Hello @JNG88 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

When relocating your HP Tango X printer from one region (like Hong Kong) to another (such as Canada), you might encounter a region error. This can occur due to different cartridge compatibility standards across regions. Here's how you can address this:

Steps to Resolve Region Error:

  1. Check Cartridge Compatibility:

    • Ensure that any new ink cartridges you purchase are compatible with both the HP Tango X model and the Canadian region.
    • Refer to the printer's documentation or HP's official website for a list of compatible cartridges.
  2. Contact HP Support:

    • You might need HP to perform a regionalization reset to align your printer with your new regional settings.
    • Reach out to HP Customer Support to request assistance for a regionalization reset.
    • Be prepared to provide the following information:
      • Printer's serial number
      • Your location (Canada)
      • Details of cartridges in use
  3. Install Latest Printer Firmware:

    • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. This can sometimes address compatibility issues.
    • You can check and update the firmware via the HP Smart app or by downloading updates from the HP website.
  4. Test and Confirm:

    • After any reset or update, test the printer with region-specific cartridges to confirm the issue is resolved.

If the error persists despite these efforts, HP Support should be able to provide further technical help or necessary interventions to correct the region configuration.
