@8702_RonH, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with this issue. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the error:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the replacement cartridge is indeed an Genuine HP 952.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the black ink cartridge.
  • Gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridge, close the access door, and turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve cartridge recognition issues. You can check for firmware updates on the HP Support website.

Reseat the Printhead:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer.
  • Lift the carriage latch, slightly lift the printhead, and then lower it back into place.
  • Lower the carriage latch to lock the printhead into place and reconnect the power cord

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
