Hi @grumpygranny29,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Identify Problematic Cartridge:
- On the printer display, you may see an icon or message indicating which cartridge (black or color) is causing the problem. If not, remove one cartridge at a time and re-insert to see which one triggers the error message.
Reinstall Cartridges:
- Open the cartridge access door and remove both cartridges.
- Inspect cartridges for any tape left on the nozzles and clean contacts gently with a lint-free cloth.
- Reinsert the cartridges, ensuring they click into place securely.
Use Genuine HP Cartridges:
- Make sure you’re using genuine HP cartridges. Third-party cartridges may sometimes not be recognized correctly.
Firmware Update for the Printer:
- Visit the HP Support website to see if there's a firmware update available for your printer model. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
Check Printer Software Compatibility:
- Ensure that your printer software and drivers are updated and compatible with Windows 11. You can update drivers via Windows Update or download them directly from the HP Support site.
Reset Printer:
- Disconnect the printer from the power source while it is still on.
- Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on. This can clear errors and reset any stalled position the printer might be in.
Try Alternative Cartridge(s):
- If the issue persists, try using another set of cartridges if available. This can help identify if the cartridge is faulty.
I hope this helps.
