Printer skipping lines when printing.

I was in the middle of printing my Christmas letters and needed to change the black toner cartridge.  I knew my color toner was low also, so I went ahead and put a new one in -- both HP cartridges, brand new.  I tried to align the printer and I could not get it to print a good alignment sheet.  After several tries, I remember having one that I had kept from a previous use and I tried using that one.  I finally got it to start printing again, but it is leaving out lines.  It skipped a line after the first line and then skipped a line after every two lines consistently.  Any ideas?
