HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer

My HP ENVY 5530 has started printing horizontal lines over the words when printing or copying pages. It does not print the lines when printing a photo even with words in photo.

Hi @Boatgirl12 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY 5530 printer is producing horizontal lines when printing or copying text pages but not when printing photos, there are a few potential causes and solutions you can try to resolve the issue:

Clean Printhead:

  • Your printhead may be dirty or clogged. HP printers usually have a built-in utility to clean the printhead.
  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Setup or Tools menu.
  • Look for an option like "Clean Printhead" or "Run Printhead Clean" and follow the on-screen instructions.

Alignment:

  • Check if your printer has an alignment option in the settings. Running an alignment can sometimes correct print quality issues.
  • Look for "Align Printer" or a similar option in the printer's settings and follow the prompts.

Ink Cartridge Issues:

  • Ensure that your ink cartridges are properly installed and have sufficient ink levels.
  • Try removing and reseating the ink cartridges to make sure they are securely in place.

Print Quality Settings:

  • Check your print quality settings. If you are using a draft or low-quality setting, try increasing the print quality to see if it makes a difference.

Paper Quality:

  • Make sure you are using the correct type of paper for your printer. Using poor-quality or incompatible paper can affect print quality.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated or corrupted drivers can sometimes cause printing issues.
  • Visit the HP official website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

Inspect the Drum or Imaging Unit:

  • If your printer uses a separate drum or imaging unit, inspect it for any damage or defects. Replace it if necessary.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page to check if the issue persists. This can help you determine whether the problem is specific to certain documents or a general printing problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
