@Zahira01, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like your HP Color LaserJet MFP 3301sdw suddenly stopped recognizing your black toner cartridge, even though it’s an original HP cartridge and firmware is recent. Here’s how to resolve it:

Power Cycle the Printer

Turn the printer off.

Unplug the power cord from the wall for 60 seconds.

Reconnect and turn the printer back on.

Check if the black cartridge is recognized.

Sometimes the printer simply needs a reset after firmware authentication errors.

Reseat the Black Cartridge

Open the toner access door.

Remove the black cartridge carefully.

Inspect the chip contacts on the cartridge and the printer slot — make sure there’s no dust or residue.

Reinsert the cartridge firmly until it clicks into place.

Close the door and check again.

Confirm Cartridge is Genuine

Even if the cartridge is HP-labeled, verify:

Cartridge hologram and seal.

Correct SKU for the printer.

Genuine HP cartridges have a chip that communicates with the printer. If the chip is damaged or dirty, the printer may misread it as non-HP.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
