I've been having print quality issues lately since I print much less frequently than I used to. A first-level cleaning usually helps enough for my print jobs, but not today. From the Tools menu, I ran a cleaning and then told it to run the second cleaning (which I knew would take longer). It has been in that mode now for nearly 2 hours, making no sounds, rejecting contact with the Print & Scan Doctor, and displaying "Printer maintenance is in progress. Do not interrupt." Now what?

Phone agent said it's OK to "pull the plug." After hard reset, the printer completed a first level cleaning with disastrous results, followed by a second and third level cleaning with gradually improved results. One more time just might do the trick.
