I have a message when I put in all new ink catridges.

It says "Supply System Problem

There is a problem with the supply system. Try replacing the affected catridge with a different, non empty catridge if message repairs again, record."

I have tried everything the self help says to do.

I really am frustrated with HP and thier printers.  Anything else I can do before I buy a new printer from another brand?

Hello @Robateau, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let us know the printer's name and the model number along with the network setup of the HP device so that we can assist you further?

In the meantime, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps and give us an update?

Reset the printer (very important)

  1. Turn the printer ON
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer
  3. Unplug it from the wall outlet
  4. Wait about 60 seconds
  5. Plug it back directly into the wall (avoid surge protectors)
  6. Turn the printer ON

Clean the cartridge contacts

  • Remove the cartridges
  • Using a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water, gently clean:
    • The copper contacts on the cartridges
    • The contacts inside the carriage
  • Allow everything to dry for a few minutes, then reinstall

Check printhead (if applicable)

If your model has a removable printhead:

  • Remove cartridges → take out the printhead
  • Reinstall the printhead securely → reinstall cartridges

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I tried to reset, and also clean the contacts and that did not work.

The model number is a HP Officejet Pro 8715 All-in-One.

It is on my local home wireless network.

Let me know any other recommended steps I can take before giving up on this printer.

Thank you for the response @Robateau

We understand how concerning it is to install new cartridges and still receive a "Supply System Problem" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8715.

Before considering replacing the printer, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

Record the Error Code

  • If the printer displays an error code along with the message, please make a note of it. This can help identify the affected component.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cord directly into a wall outlet and reconnect it to the printer.

Inspect and Reseat the Cartridges

  • Remove all cartridges.
  • Check for any protective tape left on the cartridges.
  • Inspect the electrical contacts for ink residue or debris.
  • Reinstall the cartridges firmly into their corresponding slots.

Check the Ink Delivery System

  • Open the cartridge access door and verify that the cartridge carriage moves freely from side to side.
  • Look for any obstructions such as paper scraps or debris.

Update the Printer Firmware

If the error persists after these steps, please let us know:

  • The exact error code (if displayed).
  • Whether the replacement cartridges are genuine HP cartridges.
  • If the issue started immediately after installing the new cartridges.

Have a great day!
