My Mum has a HP Envy 6032 printer.
She says before, when she installed a new printer cartridge, a test page would be printed.
Apparently not, now.
Any ideas please ?

Hi @Mrmatt1,
Thanks for your response and Thank you for the additional information.
Since you are using genuine HP 305XL cartridges and the printer is printing documents normally, there is no indication of a cartridge or printer failure at this time.
To answer your question, yes, by "HP App" I mean the HP Smart application.
However, on the HP ENVY 6032, the printer does not always print an alignment page automatically after every cartridge replacement. If the printer recognizes the cartridge correctly and determines that alignment is not necessary, it may skip this step altogether. This is normal behavior and does not indicate a problem with the printer.
If you would like to manually run the alignment process:
- Open HP App.
- Select your HP ENVY 6032 printer.
- Click Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
- Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
- Click Align Printheads.
- Verify whether an alignment page prints successfully.
In short, the fact that an alignment/test page no longer prints automatically after cartridge installation is not necessarily a fault, especially if the printer continues to print normally.
I hope this helps.

Hi @Mrmatt1
Thank you for reaching out. I’ll be glad to assist you .
From your description, it sounds like your Mum's HP ENVY 6032 is working, but the printer no longer automatically prints the alignment or test page after a new cartridge is installed. In some cases, this behaviour can vary depending on the cartridge type, printer status, firmware version, or whether the printer detects the cartridge as a replacement that requires alignment.
To better understand the situation, could you kindly confirm:
- Are the cartridges being replaced with genuine HP ink cartridges?
- What are the cartridge numbers currently installed in the printer?
- Does the printer display any messages, blinking lights, or notifications in HP Smart after the cartridge installation?
- Is the printer otherwise printing documents normally?

In the meantime, you can try the below steps:
- Open the HP App.
- Select your HP ENVY 6032 printer.
- Go to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
- Look for Printer Maintenance or Tools.
- Run Align Printheads and check whether the printer prints an alignment page manually.
- Ensure the printer firmware is up to date through HP App.
- Restart both the printer and the computer, then check the printer's behaviour after reinstalling a cartridge.
You may also print a quality diagnostic or printer information page from the printer settings to verify that all maintenance functions are operating correctly.

I hope this helps.

Yes, the cartridges are genuine HP cartridges.
Cartridge numbers ? 305XL (as far as I know).
As for number 3, sorry I don't know, I'd have to report back to you on that ? I'd have to ask.
Regarding number 4, as far as I know, there are no issues printing documents, they seem to be printing normally (as they have been for some time anyway).
When you say HP app, presumably you mean specifically HP Smart ????

Thank you for your kind reply and reassurance.
I don't actually use the printer much myself (my mother mainly does), but for some reason my mother thought an alignment page was automatically printed after every new cartridge install.
I will pass this information on to my mother, and will report back to you if we / she have any further questions or concerns. I will leave it to my mother to decide if she wants to print a manual alignment test page (although I would have to show her how).
The HP Smart App ID is as follows: CAD506FD-F. It is version number: 166.1.1185.0.
Best Regards.

Hi @Mrmatt1,
Thank you for your update, and you're very welcome. I'm glad I could help clarify the situation.
It's completely understandable that your mother may have expected an alignment page to print automatically after installing a new cartridge. Please feel free to pass the information along to your mother, and there is no need to print a manual alignment page unless print quality concerns arise or the printer specifically prompts for alignment. If she decides to perform a manual alignment later, you can certainly assist her with the steps.
We appreciate you keeping us informed, and if you or your mother have any additional questions or concerns in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out. We'll be happy to help.
