I have an HP ENVY Inspire 7958e All-In-One Printer. The printer will not print color. There are NEW color and black/White cartridges installed. Preferences are to print color. I've gone thru setup, cleaner, and alignment. HELP

Hi @Woodshop2024,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Inspire 7958e is not printing in color despite new cartridges and correct preferences, try the following steps to troubleshoot:
1. Check Printer Settings
- On your iOS device, ensure the print job is set to color:
- Open the document or photo you want to print.
- Tap Share or the Print icon.
- Under the printer options, check that Color is selected instead of Black & White.
2. Verify Cartridge Installation
- Ensure that the color cartridge is:
- Properly seated in its slot.
- Free of protective plastic or tape over the nozzles.
- Use only genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.
3. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Use the HP Smart app:
- Open the app on your iOS device.
- Go to Tools or Printer Maintenance.
- Run the Print Quality Diagnostic test.
- If colors do not print, note which ones are missing.
4. Clean the Printhead
- Use the built-in cleaning tool:
- On the printer control panel or via the HP Smart app, go to Settings > Maintenance.
- Select Clean Printhead.
- Test print after cleaning.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Ensure the printer firmware is up to date:
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Go to Settings > Printer Updates.
- Install any available updates.
6. Reset the Printer
- Perform a reset:
- Turn the printer off.
- Unplug it from the power source for 2-3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and power it on.
7. Perform a Color Copy Test
- Place a colored document on the scanner glass and make a copy:
- If the copy is in color, the issue is likely with the print job settings or the app used to print.
- If the copy is not in color, the issue is with the printer hardware.
8. Check for Software Issues
- If you're using AirPrint, try reinstalling the printer:
- On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
- Forget and reconnect to the printer.
- Re-add the printer through AirPrint.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
