Hi @Coach_SB,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I see you are using ONN replacement cartridges in your HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One printer with Windows 11.
Please note: HP printers, especially HP+ models like the 4255e, are designed to work only with original HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges (such as ONN) are not recognized by the printer and may cause errors.
Here are the steps you can try:
- Remove and reinstall cartridges
- Open the cartridge access door.
- Remove both cartridges, check for protective tape or packaging, and reinstall them firmly.
- Restart the printer
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 1–2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 1–2 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Check the HP Smart app
- Open the HP Smart app on your Windows 11 PC.
- Go to “Supplies” – it will show if the cartridges are not genuine HP.
- Understand HP+ requirements
- Since your printer is an HP+ device, it requires original HP ink cartridges or an HP Instant Ink subscription.
- Third-party cartridges (including ONN) will not be supported, and the printer will continue to show them as unrecognized.
👉 To restore printing, you’ll need to install genuine HP 67 or 67XL ink cartridges. You can purchase them directly from the HP Store or authorized retailers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
