I see that many people have had this problem.  It always seems to be with blue ink.  I have tried all the recommended solutions including a new ink cartridge, alignment, cleaning print heads.  shutting off the printer and unplugging, checking for firmware updates.... and on and on.  What's going on and why can't I fix this.  Is this planned obsolescence? I'm very annoyed!

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Clogged Print Head

Try doing a deep cleaning from the printer’s menu (usually under maintenance). If that doesn’t work, you can try manually cleaning the print head with distilled water or rubbing alcohol.

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove the cartridges.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back in.
  6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)
  7. Turn on the printer

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
