Hello,
My printer just stopped printing color, no matter the source of the print job...my phone, my iPad, my computer, even the printer itself for diagnostics. It won't even print in grayscale, the print quality just has gaps where color should be.
I am an ink plus customer with full ink. I've tried aligning the printhead, cleaning the printhead, removing the ink cartridges and reinstalling them, and resetting the printer itself.
Thanks for any help!

Hi @JBW97,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you've already tried a number of troubleshooting steps for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e. Here are a few additional steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Check Ink Levels and Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are installed correctly.
- Verify that the ink levels are sufficient. Even if you are an ink plus customer, sometimes a cartridge might be defective.
Clean the Printhead Thoroughly:
- Go through the printhead cleaning process multiple times. Sometimes it takes more than one cleaning cycle to clear any blockages.
- Use the printer’s maintenance menu to perform a more thorough clean if available.
Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Report:
- This can often help identify any specific issues with the ink cartridges or printheads. This is usually found in the printer’s maintenance or tools menu.
Check for Firmware Updates:Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes updates can fix bugs or issues related to print quality.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check the Printer Software/Driver:
- Make sure you have the latest printer driver installed on all your devices. Sometimes an outdated driver can cause issues.
Inspect the Ink Cartridge Contacts:
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect the contacts (both on the cartridges and inside the printer) for any ink build-up or debris. Clean them gently with a lint-free cloth if necessary.
Test with a Different Set of Cartridges:
- If possible, try using a new set of ink cartridges to determine if the issue lies with the cartridges themselves.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
