Hi @Stellarosa,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 is not printing in color and producing poor quality prints, the issue may be related to the printhead, ink cartridges, or software settings. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Ink Levels
- Ensure your color ink cartridges are not empty or low.
- Go to the printer control panel or the HP Smart app to check ink levels.
Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges
- If you are using third-party or refilled cartridges, this could affect print quality. HP printers often perform better with genuine HP cartridges.
Run Printhead Cleaning Utility
- On your printer, go to the Settings or Tools menu and find the Clean Printhead option. This will automatically clean the printheads and may resolve print quality issues.
Perform Printhead Alignment
- After cleaning, align the printhead:
- On the control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
Check Printer Settings
- Ensure color printing is enabled:
- When printing, go to Printer Properties and ensure the color option is selected (not grayscale or black-and-white).
Check for Software or Driver Updates
- Visit the HP Support Website to check if your printer's software or drivers need to be updated.
Reset the Printer
- Unplug the printer from the power source while it's turned on, wait for 60 seconds, and then plug it back in.
Manually Clean Printhead (Advanced)
- If the automatic cleaning doesn't work, you can manually clean the printhead using a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
