Hello. My printer stops printing when the toner ink is low even though the ink isn't faint. How can I change the print settings so that it continues to print even though the toner ink is low until it runs out?

Hi @Jacmdluli

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

HP printers sometimes stop printing when the toner is low to prevent poor print quality. However, you can adjust your printer settings to continue printing until the toner runs out.

Here's how to do it:

Access Printer Settings:

  • Open the HP Smart App or go to the Control Panel on your Windows 10 computer.
  • Navigate to 'Devices and Printers' or 'Printers & Scanners.'

Configure Print Driver:

  • Find your HP Laser MFP 137fnw printer in the list and right-click to access 'Printer Preferences.'
  • Look for options related to toner levels or low toner warnings. Some printers have a setting that allows you to continue printing despite low toner warnings.

Disable Toner Alerts:

  • If the printer’s software offers toner level alerts, disable them to continue printing until the toner runs out.
  • This option may also be available through the printer’s control panel on the device itself.

Check the Printer’s Control Panel:

  • Go to the printer's control panel by pressing the Setup button.
  • Navigate to 'System Setup,' then 'Supply Settings' to see if there are options to disable warnings or alerts related to toner levels.

Continue Printing Option:

  • Some models may have a "Continue" option that allows users to proceed with printing when the toner is low. Check if this option is available from the printer control panel.

Firmware Update:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date, as updates sometimes include options for handling low toner situations. Check the HP Support website for the latest firmware.
