Ink cartridge problem with supply system

Hi @WWC4C777

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how disappointing it feels when the printer refuses to print and shows an ink supply system issue.

Thank you for any steps you may have already tried—we’ll go through a clear path together to get the ink flowing again.

Here are the steps you can follow:

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer access door and gently remove the ink cartridges.
  • Inspect for any protective tape still covering the contacts or vents. If present, remove it.
  • Wipe the electrical contacts with a lint‑free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

Inspect Ink Supply Path

  • Ensure the cartridges are genuine and compatible with your printer model.
  • Look for any visible leaks, dried ink, or obstructions around the cartridge area.
  • If your printer uses an ink tank system, check that the ink tubes are not pinched or blocked.

Run Printer Utility

  • On your Windows PC, open the HP App.
  • Select your printer and go to “Printer Settings.”
  • Run the “Clean Printhead” or “Align Cartridges” option. This clears blockages and helps restore ink flow.

Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect and power on.
  • This refreshes the printer’s internal system.

Update Firmware

  • Visit HP’s official support page for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware update: HP Printer Firmware Update.
  • Restart the printer after the update.

Test Print

  • Try printing a test page from the HP App or Windows “Devices and Printers” settings.
  • If the print is faint or missing colors, repeat the cleaning cycle once more.

These steps should help restore smooth ink supply and get your printer back to producing crisp prints. Would you like me to also share how to run the built‑in printer diagnostics report, which can confirm if the issue is mechanical or ink flow related?
