Hi @meldog,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Paper
Ensure you are using the correct type of paper for your print job:
- Use plain white paper for testing and troubleshooting.
- Verify that the paper is not damp or wrinkled.
Print a Diagnostic Page
- Load Plain Paper: Ensure you have a few sheets of plain white paper in the input tray.
- Access the Printer Control Panel:
- Touch the Setup icon (gear icon) on the printer control panel.
- Go to Tools.
- Select Print Quality Report or Print Diagnostic Page to print a report.
Perform Printhead Cleaning
Cleaning the printhead can help resolve print quality issues:
- On the Control Panel:
- Touch the Setup icon (gear icon).
- Select Tools.
- Select Clean Printhead.
- Follow On-Screen Instructions: The printer will perform the cleaning process. You may need to repeat the cleaning process if the print quality does not improve after the first attempt.
Align the Printheads
Aligning the printheads can improve print quality:
- Access the Control Panel:
- Touch the Setup icon.
- Select Tools.
- Select Align Printer.
- Complete the Alignment: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.
Manually Clean the Printhead Nozzles
If the print quality has not improved, you can manually clean the printhead nozzles:
- Turn On the Printer.
- Open the Ink Cartridge Access Door: Allow the carriage to move to the center and become idle.
- Remove the Ink Cartridges: Press down on each cartridge to release it, then pull it out.
- Clean the Nozzles:
- Dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water.
- Gently wipe the ink nozzles and electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
- Allow to Dry: Wait for the components to dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
I hope this helps.
