Hi @Wendy224,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand how bad it feels when your HP DeskJet 2700 All-in-One printer flashes an "E" and the ink indicator, accompanied by a flashing exclamation point, it typically indicates an issue with the ink cartridges. Here are some possible causes and solutions for this problem:

Low or Empty Ink Cartridge:

  • Check if either of the ink cartridges is low on ink or empty. Replace the cartridge if necessary.

Cartridge Not Installed Properly:

  • Open the cartridge access door and make sure both cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots.

Cartridge Incompatibility:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct HP cartridges for your specific printer model.

Cartridge Communication Problem:

  • Remove the cartridges and gently clean any excess ink or debris from the electrical contacts using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Let them dry completely before reinstalling them.

Printer Reset:

  • Turn off your printer, wait for about 60 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can often reset error statuses.

Take care and have an amazing day!
