Hi @Xai79,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're encountering a printhead problem with a brand-new printer, it can be particularly frustrating. Here’s a guide to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the printhead, especially for a new printer:
1. Verify Setup and Installation
- Turn Off the Printer: Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged.
- Open the Printer: Access the printhead area by opening the printer’s access door (usually where you install the ink cartridges).
- Reinstall the Printhead: Ensure the printhead is properly installed and seated in its slot. Sometimes, removing and re-inserting the printhead can resolve alignment issues.
- Check for Tape or Covers: New printheads or cartridges often come with protective tape or covers. Make sure all protective materials have been removed before installation.
2. Inspect Ink Cartridges
- Verify Correct Cartridges: Ensure you’re using the correct ink cartridges for your printer model.
- Reinstall Cartridges: Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are properly seated.
- Inspect Contacts: Look at the metal contacts on the cartridges and inside the printhead. Clean them gently with a dry, lint-free cloth if they appear dirty or smudged.
3. Run Printer Diagnostics
- Access Printer Utility: Use the printer’s software or control panel to run diagnostics. Many printers have built-in diagnostic tools to check the status of the printhead and cartridges.
- Review Printer Display: Check the printer’s display or control panel for any specific error messages related to the printhead.
4. Perform Basic Troubleshooting
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Verify Connections: Ensure all cables (power, USB, network) are securely connected. If using a wireless connection, ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
5. Update Firmware and Drivers
- Check for Updates: Visit the HP Support website and check for any firmware updates available for your printer model.
- Install Latest Drivers: Download and install the latest printer drivers from the HP Support website.
6. Reset Printer:
- Perform a Reset: If the printer has a factory reset option in its settings menu, perform a reset. This can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
