On the control panel LCD screen, I am getting the flashing icon for Printhead Failure with the exclamation point lit up. The HPSmart app also shows the error Printhead Failure. I have unplugged and plugged in the printer; followed instructions in an HP Support page to remove and reseat the printheads; reset (unplugged/plugged in) the printer again, all to no avail.
I am extremely frustrated because I previously had another model HP, a deskjet all in one, which failed after a couple years use. After all the problems I had with that printer, I resolved to NEVER buy an HP printer again (after having great success with HP printers over the last 25 years), a few months ago, my local Staples store only had HPs in stock, no other brands, because the other brands were sourced from China and unavailable, and HP was from Taiwan and available...
Now, after barely 2 months of use, this HP 7301 has ceased to work and I don't want to waste money on buying new printheads and ink if it's not going to work.
I would love it if someone could help me avoid that solution.

@wjgseattle, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand you are not able to use the printer due to this error. Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Printhead errors
If the error persists and if the printer is under warranty, not to worry, HP will replace the part/printer for you.
