Hi @awardframe,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error codes 62.80.24 and 62.80.23 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 indicate a printhead problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve this issue.
Turn Off and On the Printer
- Power off your printer, unplug it from the wall, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Check the Printhead
Remove the Printhead:
- Open the printer cover.
- Remove the cartridges from the printhead.
- Carefully lift the printhead to remove it.
Inspect for Damage:
- Look for any visible damage or debris on the printhead or the carriage.
Clean the Printhead:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth and distilled water to gently wipe the copper contacts on the printhead and the inside of the printer where the printhead sits.
Reinstall the Printhead:
- Carefully place the printhead back in the printer.
- Reinsert the cartridges.
Check the Cartridges
- Ensure the ink cartridges are properly installed and not expired or empty. Replace any that may be low on ink.
Reset the Printer
- Perform a reset of the printer settings:
- On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
Update Firmware
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this through the printer's settings menu or the HP website.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP website to help diagnose and fix printing issues.
Check for Paper Jams
- Inspect the printer for any paper jams or obstructions that might affect the printhead's movement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
