Problem
This is a case of the printer spitting out blank pages but it's a little more in depth than that. When the print job is sent from a laptop it comes out blank or extremely light. If I use the printer as a copier it comes out fine in both black and color. If I try to print a quality report or anything else it comes out light or blank.
Additional Information on Laptops
I have tried two laptops. Both are Windows 11 but were having no issues until recently. Neither laptops have any pending updates. Both laptops are using the same up to date drivers for the product. Both laptops are connected to the printer through the same Wi-Fi network.
Additional Information on Printer
Firmware is up to date. Ink cartridges at the time were half full. I replaced them both after the following troubleshooting steps and then repeated those same steps. Cartridges are the correct ones HP brand and always have been.
Troubleshooting So Far
- I have powered down and restarted both the printer and both laptops.
- Did two levels of cartridge cleaning with no improvements.
- Aligned the printer heads.
- Printed from both laptops in both draft and normal mode (Black and color)
- Printed content from word documents.
- Printed content from downloaded PDF documents.
- Printed content directly from various webpages.
- Tested copy function to print exclusively in black (successful).
- Tested copy function to print in color (successful).
What is striking me as weird is the successful copy prints. This leads me to believe the hardware is not the issue here. But given that all the devices both laptops and the printer are up to date I can't come up with a solution. I am trying to avoid having to purchase a new printer but my device is out of warranty and I don't know what other diagnostic/troubleshooting steps I can take here.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand printer printing blank pages when the print command is sent from the laptop.I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Let's try these steps to resolve the issue:
Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Follow steps from the link: Click here
Root level uninstall and reinstall printer drivers:
- Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP ENVY printer entries and uninstall them.
- Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
- Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
- Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
- Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
