My Deskjet old 2050 J510 has started printing blank pages. It sounds as though it is printing normally but the pages are blank. I have just installed refurbished cartridges for the first time - could this be the problem?

@Donudd, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer printing blank pages!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer sounds like it’s working, but the pages come out blank. Since you’ve just installed refurbished cartridges for the first time, that could be a key factor in this issue.
At HP, we always recommend using genuine HP cartridges because they are specifically designed to work with your printer, ensuring high-quality prints and preventing common issues like blank pages, streaks, or recognition errors. Third-party or refurbished cartridges may not always communicate properly with the printer or deliver consistent ink flow.
That being said, let's try a few steps to see if we can get your printer back to normal:
- Check the Cartridges – Remove the cartridges and gently wipe the copper contacts with a lint-free cloth. Then, reinsert them securely.
- Run a Printhead Cleaning – You can do this from your printer’s control panel or HP software on your PC. This helps clear any dried ink or blockages.
- Print a Test Page – Try printing a test page from the printer settings to check if any ink is coming through.
- Use Genuine HP Cartridges – If the issue persists, I highly recommend trying genuine HP cartridges. They help maintain print quality and extend the life of your printer.
If you've tried these steps and are still facing issues, let me know! I’d be happy to assist you further. 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
