I use a Microsoft Surface laptop with Windows 10 OS. I have been having problems printing color documents for some time now and I cannot figure out how to correct it. All my settings seem to be in order, and when I do a Print Quality Diagnosic test, everything seems to be fine, but when I print a test page, it is all black and white. If I print from my mobile device, it prints in color just fine. This leads me to think the problem is with my laptop, but I can't figure out what it is. Does anyone have a suggestion of what I can try? Thank you

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that your printer is not printing in color. I am glad to assist you.

This seems to be a driver issue, follow these steps to fix the issue

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer using HP Smart app.

Hello again. When I get to this step:

  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.

There is no Drivers tab. How do I complete this step?

Try these steps to uninstall the printer driver:-

Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.

Type %temp% in the run field, and click OK.

Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)

Open folder Util

Open folder CCC

Run the uninstall_ L4.bat

When the uninstall has completed restart the computer

Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.

Type %programfiles% in the run field and click OK.

Delete any HP/Hewlett Packard folders

Keep me posted.

Hello - The 7z folder you reference does not exist. Is there another solution or maybe I have all the files deleted to complete this process?
