Hello. My printer is printing black lines all the way down the right side of documents. It is a solid black line. The ink cartridge has been changed. I have opened the printer to attempt to wipe down any wheels that may be causing it, but to no avail. Please help! The line sometimes blacks out important info on the documents.

Hi @Neurocare,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues with help from the community! I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I understand you are having print quality issues on your HP LaserJet printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Did you recently make any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
Have you tried to update the firmware update on the printer?
Is it Vertical lines or horizontal lines?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.
Occasionally red streaks can be caused by a low toner cartridge. When toner gets low it can gather in certain areas within the cartridge and create a 'streaking' affect. Can I have you hold the cartridge by the sides and rock it gently from left to right to redistribute the toner. Once the cartridge has been rocked please reinstall the cartridge. Once your cartridge is reinstalled please test printing again to verify if the streaking issue still occurs.
If the issue continues can you please click here to access the supported print quality steps for your printer. Once the support document opens please run through the steps for 'Check toner cartridge status', 'Perform additional print quality troubleshooting', and 'Inspect the toner cartridge for damage'.
If the quality issue persists than you may need to try a new genuine HP cartridge to verify if this issue is being caused by a defective magenta cartridge or the printer.
The black dots that you're seeing are often caused by a paper path roller being dirty or a fuser issue on your printer. As previously mentioned, the only way to resolve a dirty paper path would be to run multiple cleaning pages. A defective fuser would result in a whole unit replacement.
Please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting for further assistance.
Eagerly waiting for your response!
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world
