My HP Envy 6455e is printing blank pages. The app says the ink is low but I have barely used this printer and I do not notice a leak inside the printer. Please help!

Hi @Eme16,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy 6455e is printing blank pages, and the app shows low ink even though the printer is barely used and there are no visible leaks. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this.

Check ink cartridges
Open the cartridge access door and remove the cartridges.
Verify that the protective tape has been removed and that the cartridges are properly seated. A misseated cartridge can prevent ink from flowing.

Perform a power reset
Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
This clears temporary errors and resets the printer’s ink detection system.

Run printer self-test or diagnostic page
Use the printer’s menu to print a diagnostic or alignment page.
If the page prints with missing colors or blank sections, the issue may be clogged nozzles or a faulty cartridge.

Clean the printhead
The Envy 6455e has an automatic printhead cleaning function accessible via the printer menu or HP Smart app.
Run the cleaning cycle once or twice, then test printing again.

Check for firmware updates
Open HP Smart or go to the HP support site, and make sure the printer has the latest firmware installed.
Firmware updates can fix incorrect ink level reporting and improve cartridge communication.

Test with another cartridge
Even new cartridges can sometimes be defective or have a chip issue.
If possible, try a different genuine HP cartridge to see if the issue persists.

Check for clogged nozzles manually
If cleaning cycles don’t work, remove the cartridge and gently wipe the gold contacts and nozzle area with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
Reinstall and run another cleaning cycle.

Verify ink levels
HP printers sometimes misread low ink levels if the cartridge chip is not recognized.
If the printer allows ink override or reset, follow HP’s instructions in HP Smart to bypass the low-ink message temporarily.

I hope this helps.
