My printer is properly set up, prints test pages but does not print my documents or copies in black and white. Ink cartridges  are full.  But black ink does not appear to be flowing.

@AndresBA, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your printer is not printing documents or copies in black and white despite having full ink cartridges, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP cartridges may result in compatibility issues and are not guaranteed in quality or reliability.
  • Verify that the black ink cartridge is correctly installed. Make sure that the orange tabs have been removed, and the label on top is slightly torn to indicate proper installation.

Print Quality Report:

  • Print a print quality report to diagnose any issues. This is usually accessed through printing diagnostic pages in the printer's setup menu.
  • Inspect the printed report for streaked or faded areas where black is expected.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Align and clean the printhead using the printer's control panel or through the HP Solution Center software. These cleaning routines help resolve issues related to ink flow and nozzle blockage.

Printer Settings:

  • Check your printer settings to ensure you have selected "Black Ink Only" or "Black & White" for your print jobs.
  • Often software settings impact print outcomes, so reconfirm these through the printer software on your computer.

Evaluate Printing Tests:

  • After cleaning, run the cleaning test page and evaluate its results. If the problem persists, a deeper cleaning or cartridge replacement might be necessary.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes firmware updates can resolve printing issues and improve printer functionality.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
