My printer is printing blank pages.  The printer properly printed the HP Printer Information Page, but nothing else.  The paper comes out blank.  I checked my settings and they seem ok.  Thanks.

Hi @Doth56

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the issue so clearly—when your HP DeskJet 2722 prints the information page but nothing else, it usually means the hardware is functional but something is blocking ink flow or interfering with print jobs.

Let’s walk through a structured recovery path to get your printer working again:

Step-by-Step Fix for Blank Pages on HP DeskJet 2722

1. Check Ink Cartridge Installation

  • Open the cartridge access door and confirm both black and tri-color cartridges are installed correctly.
  • Remove and reinsert each cartridge firmly.
  • Make sure the protective tape has been removed from the ink nozzles (if recently installed).

2. Run Printhead Cleaning

  • On the printer control panel, press the Information and Cancel buttons together to print a diagnostic page.
  • Then press Information + Resume to initiate a printhead cleaning cycle.
  • You can also do this via the HP Smart app:
HP Smart > Printer Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead

3. Print a Test Page from HP Smart

  • Open the HP Smart app on your PC.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools > Print Test Page
  • If the test page is blank, repeat the cleaning cycle up to three times, allowing the printer to rest between attempts.

4. Check Print Settings and Driver

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2722 → Printing Preferences
  • Ensure the correct paper type and print quality are selected.
  • Make sure “Print in grayscale” is unchecked.

5. Update Firmware and Drivers

  • Visit the official support page:
HP DeskJet 2722 Drivers & Firmware
  • Download and install:
    • Latest firmware
    • Full feature driver for Windows 11
  • Restart your PC and printer after installation.

You’ve already done the right thing by checking settings and confirming the info page prints—let’s make sure your printer delivers full output again.

Thanks Hawk_Eye.  I followed the steps you listed but they did not help.   The weird thing is that my Printer will print from the HP Utility (pdf files only), but not from an application like Word.  Also, when I try to copy, I get a blank page.

You are Welcome @Doth56

Thanks for the detailed follow-up. I’m really sorry this issue is persisting—it’s especially frustrating when the printer behaves selectively, printing PDFs but not Word documents, and even copying results in blank pages.

That pattern suggests the problem may go deeper than just software settings.

Let’s take this further with a more advanced recovery path:

1. Run a Copy Test Without PC Involvement

Since copying is handled entirely by the printer:

  • Place a document face-down on the scanner glass.
  • Press the Black Copy or Color Copy button directly on the printer.
  • If the output is blank, this confirms an ink delivery or printhead issue—not a driver or app problem.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

This clears internal memory and restores factory defaults:

  • Power off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Press and hold the Power button while reconnecting the power cord.
  • Continue holding for 15 seconds, then release.

You’ll need to reconfigure Wi-Fi and preferences afterward.

3. Inspect Ink Cartridge Nozzles and Contacts

Even if ink levels look fine, dried ink or poor contact can block output:

  • Remove both cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Gently clean the copper-colored contacts and nozzle area.
  • Let dry for 5 minutes before reinserting.

4. Reinstall the Full Feature Driver

Even if the printer prints PDFs, Word and copy failures may stem from a corrupted driver:

  • Visit the HP DeskJet 2722 Driver Page.
  • Download the Full Feature Software and Driver for Windows 10.
  • Uninstall any existing HP software from your PC.
  • Reinstall using the new package and restart both devices.

5. Try Printing from Word as PDF

As a workaround:

  • Open your Word document → File → Print → Choose Microsoft Print to PDF
  • Save the file, then open and print it from HP Smart or Adobe Reader
  • If this works, it confirms a driver-level disconnect between Word and the printer

Just let me know what you’ve tried and whether any error messages appear. You’ve been incredibly thorough—let’s get your printer back to full functionality.

Thanks Hawks_Eye.  I resolved the problem by getting a new printer.  I have been using HP Printers for many years and I was fed up with the cost of ink cartridges.  So I guess I solved 2 problems at once.
