I have the office jet pro 9120 e. When I print multiple pages, from my second page on doest’t print correct. So I’m slowly printing one page at a time. The tray is larger than my paper and I keep trying to stack the paper correct inside, but there is no way for me to slide the thing in the paper tray forward to secure the paper forward. I’m frustrated. Could my paper be too light? Or there a way to secure paper forward? The tray is large enough for legal size paper.

HI @torgrimsonp,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e is not aligning pages correctly when printing multiple pages, and you suspect issues with the paper tray or paper itself, here are some steps and considerations to help resolve the problem:
1. Paper Handling
Check Paper Type and Size:
- Correct Paper: Ensure you are using the correct type and size of paper for your printer. For instance, if your printer is set to print on A4 but you're using letter-sized paper, alignment issues can occur.
Paper Quality:
- Paper Weight: While lightweight paper is less likely to cause issues, using very lightweight paper could sometimes lead to feeding problems. Ensure you are using paper within the recommended weight range for your printer (usually listed in the printer's manual).
- Paper Condition: Ensure the paper is not curled, wrinkled, or damp.
Paper Tray Adjustment:
- Adjust Paper Guides: Make sure the paper guides in the tray are set to fit the size of the paper you're using. The guides should hold the paper firmly but not too tightly.
- Paper Stacking: Ensure the paper stack is aligned and not exceeding the paper tray capacity. Avoid overloading the tray as it can cause feeding issues.
2. Printer Settings
Check Print Settings:
- Correct Settings: Verify that your printer settings on your computer match the paper size and type you are using. Go to the print dialog box and ensure that the paper size, type, and source settings are correct.
Print Quality:
- Quality Settings: Sometimes, print quality settings can affect how pages are aligned. Try adjusting the print quality settings to see if it improves alignment.
3. Printer Maintenance
- Clean Rollers: Dust or debris on the paper rollers can affect paper feeding. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water to clean the rollers. Ensure the printer is turned off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Inspect Paper Path: Look inside the paper path for any obstructions or debris that might be causing alignment issues.
4. Printer Calibration and Alignment
- Alignment Utility: Use the printer's built-in alignment utility to ensure the printer is correctly aligned. This can usually be found in the printer settings menu or accessed through the printer’s control panel.
- Alignment Page: Some printers require you to print an alignment page to calibrate the print head. Follow the instructions in the printer’s manual to perform this procedure.
5. Software and Driver Issues
- Check for Updates: Ensure you have the latest drivers and firmware for your printer. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest updates for your printer model.
- Reinstall: If updating drivers does not resolve the issue, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the printer software.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
