My printer is about 2 years old. After I cleared a paper jam, it stopped printing any yellow. I can see that the hose for the yellow ink that runs from the tank to the printhead has an air pocket, but what is the proper way to clear it?

The tanks are all more than half full.

Hi @Alan1129,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the printer stopped printing yellow immediately after clearing a paper jam and you've noticed an air gap in the yellow ink tube, we'd first want to identify the exact printer model before recommending any model-specific procedures, as the ink delivery system varies across HP printers.

Could you please share the exact HP printer model?

In the meantime, you can try these basic steps:

  • Verify that the yellow ink tank contains sufficient ink and that there are no visible leaks.
  • Run a Printhead Cleaning or Clean Printhead cycle from the printer's control panel or the HP app.
  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report (if available on your model) and check whether yellow is completely missing from the test pattern.
  • If your printer has a Deep Cleaning option, run it once and then print another test page.

Please avoid attempting to manually force ink through the tubes or disassembling the ink system, as this can damage the printhead or ink delivery components.

Once you share the printer model and, if possible, a photo of the ink tube showing the air pocket and a sample print, we'll be able to provide more accurate guidance for your specific printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello VikramTheGreat!

Thank you for replying and for trying to help me with this issue.

You can see the full model number in Photo #3.

The yellow tank is about ¾ full and I see no sign of any leak.

I ran a Printhead Cleaning Cycle several times, but to no avail.

I ran a Print Quality Diagnostics Page

I don't see any Deep Cleaning Option.

I also have another test print that should look like Photo #4, but it comes out like Photo #5.

Is there anything else you want me to try?

Alan
