Hi @AndyK1968

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. Thank you for already running the printhead cleaning and alignment tools. Since there was no improvement, let's focus on a few additional checks that commonly help improve blurry print quality on the HP ENVY Inspire 7255e.

Print a Printer Status Report directly from the printer

  • On the printer control panel, print a Printer Status Report or Print Quality Diagnostic page.
  • Review the text and color blocks for gaps, streaks, faded areas, or fuzzy edges.
  • If defects appear on this internal report, the issue is likely related to the ink system or printhead rather than macOS.

Check the ink cartridges

  • Verify that genuine HP cartridges are installed and that ink levels are sufficient.
  • Remove each cartridge and inspect for any remaining protective tape or debris on the cartridge contacts.
  • Reinstall the cartridges firmly until they click into place.

Perform an additional cleaning cycle

  • Open the printer's maintenance tools and run a second-level or deep printhead cleaning if available.
  • After cleaning, print another quality report and compare the results.
  • Avoid running multiple cleaning cycles back-to-back, as excessive cleaning uses ink without always improving output.

Verify paper and print settings

  • In the macOS print dialog, confirm the selected Paper Type matches the media being used.
  • For photos, select the appropriate HP photo paper setting.
  • Ensure Draft or Economy mode is not enabled.
  • Select a higher print quality setting such as Best or High Quality.

Update and re-add the printer in HP App

  • Open HP App and check for any available printer firmware updates.
  • If the issue occurs only when printing from the Mac, remove and add the printer again through macOS Printers & Scanners, then test print from HP App.

Test a copy from the scanner glass

  • Place a document on the scanner glass and make a copy directly from the printer.
  • If the copy is also blurry, the issue is occurring within the printer itself.
  • If copies are clear but Mac prints are blurry, the issue is more likely related to print settings or the printer driver configuration.

If possible, please let us know whether:

  • Black text, color prints, or both are blurry.
  • Copies made directly from the printer are also blurry.
  • The Printer Status Report shows any missing lines, streaks, or fuzzy text.

This will help determine whether we should focus on the printhead, cartridges, or print settings next.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
