A BRAND NEW print which I bought today. I have never had so much difficulty with a printer in my life.
I cannot set a standard set of instructions for this printer. It changes the quality with every printing. Sometimes it take 5 seconds to print. And others times it takes 4 minutes for the same thing. And it lays on so much ink its hard to read.
How can I set preferences for this printer. If I have much more trouble then I'm taking it back.

@Hiyayall, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you have issues while printing. Let us try these steps:
Reset the printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
- Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.
Update the printer firmware

Try making a standalone copy and check how much time it takes to print it. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.
Check the ink levels and clean the ink cartridges as shown in this document - Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues
You may print a quality report to check the result.
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue
