Microsoft Windows 11

I have had my HP Envy 6005e printer for 2-3 years.  Inserting replacement cartridges has always been somewhat problematic.  Today the replacement won't fit into the carriage.  It's as if something has shifted, but I was just trying to response to the notice that my ink was running low.  I put the low-ink cartridges back in, but now they are jammed.  Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'll appreciate any lessons learned with this problem

HI @BTH131,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with a problematic ink cartridge insertion in your HP ENVY 6055e printer can be frustrating. Here are some steps and tips to help you resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer: Disconnect it from the power source.
  • Wait a few minutes: This can help reset the printer’s internal mechanisms.
  • Reconnect and turn on the printer: Plug it back in and power it on. Sometimes a simple reset can resolve minor mechanical issues.

2. Open the Cartridge Access Door

  • Ensure the printer is on.
  • Lift the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.
  • The carriage should move to the center for easy access.

3. Remove Jammed Cartridges

  • Gently press down on the jammed cartridges: This should release the latch.
  • Pull the cartridges out carefully: Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage.
  • If they are still stuck, use a gentle rocking motion to ease them out.

4. Inspect the Carriage and Cartridges

  • Check the carriage: Look for any obstructions or foreign objects that might be causing the jam.
  • Inspect the cartridges: Ensure they are not damaged or leaking. Check the contacts for dirt or ink build-up and clean them gently with a lint-free cloth.

5. Reinsert Cartridges Properly

  • Insert one cartridge at a time: Make sure you are inserting them into the correct slots (black in black, color in color).
  • Align the cartridge with the slot: Tilt the cartridge slightly, inserting it at the same angle it came out.
  • Push until it clicks: The cartridge should lock into place with a click.

6. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, printer firmware updates can resolve issues related to cartridge recognition and alignment. Check the HP website for any available updates for your model and install them.

7. Perform a Printer Reset

  • If the problem persists, perform a full printer reset by:
    • Turning off the printer.
    • Unplugging it from the power source.
    • Waiting for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plugging it back in and turning it on

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
