HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a

Keep getting a notice on printer:

There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP.

Did this and replaced all cartridges since were low in ink.  Never had this issue before.

@BIGPAPA1970, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're seeing the error message:

"There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP."

You've already replaced the cartridges and restarted the printer, which is a great first step. Let's go through a few more troubleshooting steps to help resolve this issue:

Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Check Printer Level

  • Ensure the printer is placed on a flat, level surface.
  • Try the "round object roll test": Place a small round object (like a marble) on top of the printer. If it rolls, the printer may not be level, which can affect ink flow.

Remove and Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges and inspect them for damage or ink buildup.
  • Reinstall them one by one, ensuring each clicks into place securely.

Clean the Printhead

  • From the printer control panel, go to:
    • Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead
  • If the error persists, you may need to remove and manually clean the printhead.

Update Printer Firmware

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
