Print quality was bad and cartridges were low on ink so I ordered a new set of ink cartridges. After I installed the new cartridges I ran a test page and nothing printed. I put the old cartridges back in and still get a blank page when running test page. I have gone though all of the diagnostics with both sets of ink cartridges. The printer recognizes the cartridges and displays ink levels but will not print a test page

I have an HP8620, out of warranty since 2017 but has given good service. Suddenly got a message today to say that the printhead is "missing, not detected or incorrectly installed". This came out of the blue, it had worked perfectly well in the last few days. I've tried switching the power on and off and also removing and re-installing the printhead as instructed but neither fix worked. It appears that a new printhead costs not much less than a new printer so do I have to buy another printer?
