My HP Envy 4527 printer has started giving errors that the colour cartridge is incompatible even though it is a genuine cartridge that has been installed in the very same printer for several months and has in that time worked fine. It was sent to me by HP as part of their "instant Ink" program. It has not been in any other printer. I have taken the cartridge in and out (as advised on the help pages) I have turned the printer on and off, I have cleaned the cartridge electrical connectors but it still refuses to accept the cartridge. Meanwhile HP continue to charge me for instant ink when I cannot use the printer. (it won't just print in back and white). The fault is wither with the printer or the cartridge. If I assume its the cartridge then because I am not using any ink HP won't send me another colour cartridge. I understand HPs desire to protect the ink side of the business but the technology has to work better than this.

Hi @Jmer-64,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an ink cartridge issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
To assist better:
- Was there any recent update on the printer prior to the issue?
While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware
