Can HP printers like this provide information on the number of pages printed using the currently installed cartridges without printing out a report page? For example provide the info in HP Smart or elsewhere on the connected computer?
Not seeing it so far.

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Look for "impressions"
If it is called something different please let me know.

Thank you for your help.
Accessed EWS and then Usage report.
So the colours inks are spent after just 71 single blue colour prints (simple text).
Black and white does not photocopy in this state which seems odd.

Yea, that is probably correct. I have a non-hp inkjet that I bought as HP does not support printing on DVDs anymore.
Ink cartridges were named XL, XXL, XXXL etc.
I found the were all the same size, just not filled up all the way with ink.
You might be able to refill your cartridge and reuse it
Does not work with "E" series
