Hi @StanleyB1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 is printing gibberish or random characters, especially from your HP Envy x360 15-fh0000 laptop running Windows 11, it’s likely due to a communication or driver issue. Here’s how to fix it step-by-step:

1. Cancel the Print Job

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Double-click your printer > click “See What’s Printing”.
  • Right-click the job > click Cancel.

If the printer keeps blinking, wait for the job to finish or delete it from the queue.

2. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in directly to a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  • Turn it on and try printing again.

3. Run HP App

This tool automatically detects and fixes common printing issues.

4. Try Printing from Another App

Sometimes the issue is app-specific:

  • If you printed from a browser or image viewer, try printing from Word or Notepad.
  • If it works, the original app may be causing the gibberish.

5. Connect Printer Directly

If you're using a network or USB hub:

  • Disconnect all cables.
  • Restart the printer.
  • Connect it directly to your laptop via USB.
  • Try printing again.

6. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver

Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause this issue:

If the issue persists after all these steps, it may be a deeper driver conflict or firmware issue. I can help walk you through a clean reinstall or firmware update if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
