I notified the moderator of the problem. Some of the new HP printers allow the owner to change the region code without assistance. Look in the users manual for details including how many changes you are allowed. If you have an older printer that does not describe the regionalization process then expand the spoiler below and wait for an agent to help you.
Changing the region code can be difficult.
When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.
I read that only 2, 3 or 4 region changes are allowed. It depends on which AI bot I ask.
You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.
In any event you need to do the following:
1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges (toners) either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or, the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart or the HP App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges or toners need to be in the warranty period.
How do I find my printer's region code?
Method 1: Print a Printer Status or Configuration Report
Many HP printers include the region on one of their internal reports.
• Print a Configuration Report or Printer Status Report.
• Look for entries such as:
1. Region
2. Regionalization
3. Country/Region
4. Market
Some models list a numeric region code (such as 1, 2, 3, etc.), while others list a geographic region (North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, etc.).
Method 2: Embedded Web Server (network printers)
If the printer is connected to your network read this.
Some business models display the regional information there.
Method 3: Read the cartridge error
If you receive a message like:
"The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer."
that usually means the cartridge belongs to a different regional market than the printer.

Hi @Silvani1995,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
The HP 202A toner cartridges are appropriate for Indonesia, while HP 203A toner cartridges are used in another region. The “Incompatible black cartridge” message indicates that the printer is still configured for the region associated with the HP 203A cartridges.
To check whether the printer qualifies for a regionalization reset, please confirm:
- Was the printer purchased new or second-hand?
- In which country was the printer originally purchased and initialized?
- Was the printer moved to Indonesia permanently?
- Do you have a complete set of genuine HP 202A toner cartridges?
- Do you still have the original HP 203A toner cartridges full set?
Please do not mix HP 202A and HP 203A cartridges in the printer. A complete set of cartridges for the new region or old region may be required to complete the regionalization process.
The thin client, Microsoft operating environment, and LAN connection are not causing the incompatible cartridge message. This message is related to the printer’s regionalization. Once the purchase and cartridge details are confirmed, the regionalization requirements can be reviewed.
Take care and have an amazing day!
