Hello

I have recently moved from the UK to Canada and, regrettably, brought my HP Envy 6022 All-in-One Printer with me. I have purchased ink from Canada and discovered that the printer is incompatible with it until I reset the device region. To achieve this I need a code from HP Support. Please could someone help me obtain this code before I am forced to send my poor printer to the bottom of lake Ontario.

Hi @paddlingpoo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you. Please note that HP Printers use different ink cartridges in different regions, and to use the ink cartridges sold in the current region, we need to change the region settings on the printer.

I request you to please get back to me with the following information, so that I can help you change the region settings on the printer.

Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions

Do you have a printer USB cable?

Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?

Do you have the printer full-feature software and drivers installed on your PC?

Note: Please install the HP app on your PC before proceeding.

Also, before performing the regional reset, please make sure to use any remaining ink in your current cartridges. Once the regional reset is completed, the cartridges from the previous region will no longer work with the printer, even if they still contain ink.

I wanted to mention this beforehand so you can make the most of your current cartridges before proceeding with the region change.

Hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Vikram

I have cartridges for both regions, though the UK cartridges are for an Instant Ink subscription that has now expired, so I am not concerned about using the remaining ink in them.

I don't believe I do have a printer USB cable.

OS is Windows 11.

All software/drivers are installed on my PC. I have the HP Smart app installed.

Please let me know what I need to do to re-regionalise the printer.

Kind regards

Patrick

Hi @paddlingpoo,

Thank you for providing the additional details.

I understand that you have cartridges from both regions and that the UK cartridges were part of an HP Instant Ink subscription that has now expired.

If the cartridges are HP Instant Ink cartridges, they cannot be used for a regional reset. Since Instant Ink cartridges are linked to an active Instant Ink subscription, they stop functioning once the subscription ends.

However, there is another option that may be more convenient. If you plan to continue using HP Instant Ink in Canada, you can enroll the printer in an HP Instant Ink Canada subscription. Once your enrollment is complete, HP will send you new Instant Ink cartridges for your Canadian region.

When you install the new Canadian Instant Ink cartridges received through your active subscription, the printer will automatically update to the new region as part of the Instant Ink service. In this case, a separate regional reset is typically not required, and you can continue using the printer with your new Instant Ink subscription.

If you prefer to use standard HP cartridges instead of Instant Ink, you will need to have a regular UK HP cartridge installed in the printer to perform the regional reset. Please note that UK Instant Ink cartridges cannot be used for this process. Once the regional reset is completed, you can then install the compatible standard HP cartridges available in Canada.

Please let us know which option you would like to proceed with, and we'll be happy to guide you through the next steps.

I do not have a non-Instant Ink cartridge to use, unfortunately.

Could I enrol in Instant Ink in Canada, use the cartridges to automatically re-regionalise the printer and then end the subscription to use the HP standard cartridges I have already bought?

Kind regards

Patrick

Hi @paddlingpoo,

Thank you for your question.

I understand what you're trying to achieve. However, that approach will not work. If you enroll in HP Instant Ink Canada, the printer will be configured to work with the Canadian Instant Ink cartridges provided through your subscription. Cancelling the subscription afterward will not automatically enable the printer to use standard cartridges that have not been regionally matched.

If your goal is to use standard HP cartridges in Canada, we can certainly help you with a regional reset. For this process, you'll need to have a new genuine HP standard cartridge for the Canadian region available. Please note that third-party or refilled cartridges cannot be used for the regional reset.

You mentioned earlier that you do not have a USB cable. While the regional reset can often be performed over Wi-Fi, using a USB connection is the most stable and recommended method, as it helps ensure reliable communication between the computer and the printer throughout the process.

Please also make sure you have the latest HP app installed on your Windows 11 PC before proceeding.

Step 2:

1) Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2) Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3) Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4) If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

5) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in Private.
