Hi @BB720,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with your printing with red tint.

What is the current OS installed/used with this printer?

When your HP Tango printer is printing photos with a strong red tint, it typically indicates an issue with color calibration, ink levels, or print settings. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check Ink Levels

  1. HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
    • Select your printer, and check the ink levels. Ensure that both color and black ink levels are adequate.
  2. Replace Low Ink Cartridges:
    • If any of the cartridges are low, replace them with new, genuine HP cartridges.

Step 2: Clean Printheads

  1. Using HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app.
    • Select your printer, then go to the Printer Maintenance section.
    • Choose Clean Printheads and follow the on-screen instructions.
  2. Print a Diagnostic Report:
    • After cleaning, print a test page or diagnostic report to see if the color balance has improved.

Step 3: Printhead Alignment

  1. Using HP Smart App:
    • Open the HP Smart app.
    • Select your printer, then go to the Printer Maintenance section.
    • Choose Align Printheads and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 4: Check Print Settings

  1. Color Settings:
    • Ensure that the color settings in the print dialog box are set correctly. Sometimes, custom settings can cause color imbalances.
  2. Print Quality:
    • Select Best or High quality for printing photos. Lower-quality settings can sometimes cause color issues.
  3. Paper Type:
    • Ensure you are using the correct paper type setting for the paper you are using. Mismatched settings can cause color distortions.

Note: The remaining steps are shared via the next post, kindly check.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @BB720,

Here are the rest of the steps.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

  1. Firmware Update:
    • Go to the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Tango printer. Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
  2. Driver Update:
    • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed. Download the latest drivers from the HP Support website and install them.

Step 6: Use Different Software

  1. HP Smart App:
    • Ensure you are using the HP Smart app for printing photos. Sometimes, other software might not handle color profiles correctly.
  2. Photo Editing Software:
    • Use a photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom to adjust the color balance before printing. This can help mitigate any inherent color issues.

Step 7: Perform a Factory Reset

  1. Reset Printer Settings:
    • Sometimes, resetting the printer to its factory settings can resolve color issues. Refer to your printer’s user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be a hardware problem with the printer. Contact HP phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I found a solution on my own. Even if the existing cartridge is full of ink, if it is not brand new the photos can print this way (with red tint). I replaced the color cartridge with a brand new one and photos print fine now. What a piece of junk.
