  • The printhead and print quality issue with my HP Smart Tank 580 All-in-One Printer has been ongoing for more than 4 months.
  • I have already raised multiple service requests ( Case ID: Edited ) regarding the same problem.
  • Although the issue was temporarily resolved after service visits, it keeps recurring after a short period of time.
  • This indicates that the root cause of the problem has not yet been properly resolved.
  • Therefore, I request a permanent and proper resolution to this recurring issue.

Hi @imamanjeet07,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

“I understand how frustrating it must be to face print quality issues with my HP Smart Tank 580 All‑in‑One Printer, which have been ongoing for more than four months.”

I would request you to please perform these steps once and check - which should resolve the issue.

Clean the Printhead

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Run the cleaning cycle.
  • If print quality is still poor, repeat up to 2–3 times.
  • For stubborn clogs, remove the printhead and gently clean contacts with a lint‑free cloth.

Align the Printhead

  • After cleaning or installing a new printhead, run Setup > Tools > Align Printhead.
  • Place the alignment page on the scanner glass and follow on‑screen instructions.
  • Proper alignment ensures text and images print sharply.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug back in and restart.
  4. This clears temporary errors that may cause repeated printhead warnings.

Update Printer Firmware

  • Use the HP Smart app or the printer’s menu to check for firmware updates.
  • Install the latest version to fix known printhead error bugs.
  • Restart the printer after updating.

Take care and have an amazing day!
