Hi I need a region reset to be able to use an HP DeskJet 2621 All-in-One Printer that was purchased in Hong Kong, in the Philippines so that it can use hp 680 ink.

I performed the reset with an agent over whatsapp and got a popup that the region was successfully reset but the incompatible cartridges error still persists, is there any fix possible without having to bring the printer to a service center?

Hi @kph21,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that the regionalization reset for your HP DeskJet 2621 All-in-One Printer completed successfully, but the printer still displays an Incompatible Cartridges error when using HP 680 cartridges in the Philippines.

To help determine whether the error is related to the cartridges or whether the regionalization needs to be checked again, please confirm:

  1. Are the cartridges currently installed the old Hong Kong-region cartridges or the new HP 680 cartridges purchased in the Philippines?
  2. Are both cartridges genuine Original HP 680 cartridges, or is either cartridge refilled, remanufactured, or from a third party?
  3. Does the error identify the black cartridge, the tri-color cartridge, or both?
  4. Did you install the new Philippine-region cartridges before or after the regionalization reset was completed?
  5. After the successful reset message appeared, did you restart the printer and reinstall both HP 680 cartridges?
  6. Can you share clear images of both cartridge labels and the exact error shown on the printer? Please cover any serial numbers or personal information.

In the meantime, please try the following:

  1. Turn on the printer and open the cartridge-access door.
  2. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent.
  3. Remove both cartridges.
  4. Confirm that the labels show the correct HP 680 cartridge numbers and inspect the copper-colored electrical contacts for damage or debris.
  5. Wipe only the copper-colored contacts gently with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not touch the ink nozzles.
  6. Reinsert the black and tri-color cartridges firmly into their correct slots.
  7. Close the cartridge-access door and restart the printer.

HP confirms that an incompatible cartridge error can occur when cartridges are intended for a different country or region, when the cartridge number is incorrect, or when communication between the cartridge and printer is poor.

If genuine HP 680 cartridges purchased in the Philippines remain incompatible after these checks, please contact the same HP WhatsApp support team and provide the successful reset confirmation, cartridge images, and the exact error message. The team will need to verify whether the new regionalization was retained by the printer. Please do not repeat the regionalization procedure or change any additional values unless instructed by HP Support.
