HP DeskJet 2332 All-in-One Printer

Hello again,

After requesting a region change from 805 ink to 305 ink (India to UK/Ireland), the printer still expects the old cartridges. It doesn't recognize the 305 region as valid and only accepts 805, showing an "incompatible cartridges" error.

It's incredibly frustrating that HP enforces region locks—even on their own ink! If this doesn't work, I’ll recycle the printer and never buy HP again.

Hi @mani131,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out again, and I truly understand your frustration — region-locking of ink cartridges can be incredibly inconvenient, especially after relocating or trying to switch regions.

When changing a printer’s region (e.g. from India (805 ink) to UK/Ireland (305 ink)), it is not enough to insert the new cartridges — the printer itself must be officially reconfigured to accept the new region's ink system.

To perform a printer region reset, you need to meet the following conditions:

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer's full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally, or the new region/country to which you want to reset it.

4. Make sure the HP Smart App is installed too.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thank you! I had already performed the steps suggested by another representative here- Re: Regionalization Request - HP Support Community - 9270643 but it did not work. When I try the new ink, it still expects the old cartridges.

Could you advice the next steps, please?

I'd appreciate any help since I've gotten 2 sets of ink (old and new) to get this region change working and it's been a waste of cost, time and resources. I don't have a phone option listed on the site for Ireland and there's no other way to get this resolved.
